Beginning summer semester 2026, all University of West Georgia (UWG) Computer Science (CS) and Computing (COMP) classes will utilize CourseDen, UWG's instance of the University System of Georgia (USG) standard learning management system (LMS), D2L Brightspace. In addition, the CS Moodle LMS (this website) will be decommissioned, and thus no longer accessible to students, effective June 1, 2026.

Why This Transition Is Happening

This transition is necessary to comply with USG Information Technology (IT) Handbook - Section 10.00 Learning Management System (LMS) policy, which establishes D2L Brightspace as the system‑wide LMS standard and requires all institutions to operate on a unified LMS platform. The policy states that “All institutions should have one LMS for all their faculty and students, regardless of academic discipline.”
By adopting CourseDen, our classes will align with system‑wide practices designed to enhance learning experiences, leverage economies of scale, enhance operational efficiencies, and increase access and stability of the LMS while ensuring compliance with governance, resource, and technology standards outlined in the USG IT Handbook.

What This Means for You

  • All CS and COMP courses (just like all other UWG courses) will fully utilize CourseDen beginning June 1.
  • Effective June 1, students will no longer have access to the CS Moodle LMS website, including any data, files, previous course materials, and coursework stored therein.

Action Needed

  • Please download from CS Moodle (this website) any files or submitted coursework that you wish to keep BEFORE June 1, 2026.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Edwin Rudolph.
